The iPhone can play thousands of videos on Youtube

About 10,000 YouTube videos re-encoded and will be available to launch the iPhone in the United States next week, Apple said in a statement.

YouTube, a subsidiary of Google Inc., will be recoding the rest of their videos by year's end, he added.

"The iPhone gives by far the best YouTube mobile experience," said the statement, Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The iPhone will be the first mobile phone to use H.264, Apple said.

To surf the web wirelessly, the iPhone will use a wireless data network relatively slow, provided by the operator AT & T Inc., and is likely to video downloads will impose some weight.

The iPhone, however, also be equipped with Wi-Fi, with which the apparatus may make downloads faster in the so-called "hotspots", areas of wireless access.
